Sorry I’ve been a bit remiss on my blog for the 5 of you who read this. I’m just here to say that something good is coming. I haven’t quite decided what that is yet, but stay tuned… and prepare to be amazed.
Meanwhile, a message from the sea:
Last month I entered the illustration contest “doodle something good in the world” from GOOD magazine. I’ve been a fan of their for a long time. If you’ve never heard of them, you seriously are missing out. Check them out at www.good.is.
Anyway, I didn’t really expect to win and I didn’t, but apparently they liked my work enough to post my work on their site along with 47 of their other favorites!

Well, this week I started a new job. My first real job to be correct. Career job, that is. Anyway, it was quite an adjustment from unemployed to the working world where you’re gone from 8am to 7pm. and are so tired after you get home you don’t want to do anything. I guess it’s all what you’re used to. Well, here is me signing my contract on the first day.
Every year, our school puts on an awards show that resembles the Oscars, but for JBU. They call it the arties. Last night was the arties awards ceremony. I helped with all the food preparation, so it was quite a lot of work, but I quite enjoyed it. About 250 people showed up in creative black tie. I was nominated for an artie “photographer of the year”. I didn’t win, but it was an honor to be nominated. They also announced the 1st through 3rd place winners for the student works competition which is a gallery of student submitted artwork. I submitted a few pieces for that and I won third place in the photography category as well as third place in the illustration category. It was quite exciting. Here are the two pieces that placed.

So today I went to a portfolio review hosted by the KC chapter of AIGA. It was very helpful to get new different perspectives on my work. Suffice it to say I have a lot of work ahead of me still to do, but I am encouraged as well.
We had to leave by 4:30 am in order to get there on time. I however woke up at 3 am and couldn’t go back to sleep. So now, it is 12:30 and
I just got back and I’ve been awake for almost 24 hours.
Before I could go to bed, I had to satisfy my photography craving
{326 to be exact}. I haven’t shot in a while and the SPS self-portrait assignment due tomorrow provided the perfect excuse.
This is my first attempt to switch over to a blog host with better aesthetic.
We’ll see how this works out. I will still keep my xanga for family and fun posts, but for this I want to maintain semi-professional content and appearance.
On this blog I will attempt to share my artwork and current thoughts about anything related to art.
